400 Level AAU Medical Student Shot Dead (Photos)
A 400 level medical student of the Edo State owned Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, has been shot dead.
The victim identified simply as Timothy, was said to have been killed at his off campus residence in Ekpoma.
Though details of the incident was still sketchy as at press time, our source, however, hinted that it may not be unconnected with cult related clash.
According to our source, who is also an AAU student, Timothy was murdered today, July 7, “a day dreaded by all.”
“7/7 (July 7) of every year is very popular amongst students, being a day set aside by members of secret groups to celebrate ...
“I believe his death may have something to do with today's event. As we speak, there are parties everywhere in town. Shop owners are already shutting down and students staying away from town due to fear that there may be reprisal attacks tonight.”
But a course mate of the deceased, who pleaded anonymity, argued that the victim is a lover of peace who ‘cannot even kill a fly.’
“All I know is that he (the victim) was all loving, very respectful and nice person.
“He was one of the nicest persons I have ever met. He is in my department (medicine). He doesn't look for trouble and he runs away from any negativity. He doesn't even have time for irregularities..
“He was that good and his death still remains a misery to us all and I pray he is accepted into God’s kingdom,” he added.
Similarly, a former hostel mate of the murdered student, insisted that the deceased could not have harmed anyone.
“I don't think so, Timothy is very responsible, funny and relate with everyone well when we lived in the same hostel. He moved over a year ago so we only talk on WhatsApp once a while.
“I only heard he was shot in his hostel this morning, my friend who is his colleague says tomorrow he will find out out what actually happened.”
He, however, directed us to a female student simply identified as Liliet, whom he described as the late student's “bestie.”
She, however, declined comments when our correspondent reached out to her for reactions.
“Please leave me alone, he (Timothy) doesn't deserve all this. So please leave me alone, I can't say anything. No one deserves to be talked about this way,” she declared.
Efforts to reach the University's Dean of Students, Prof Don Akhilomen, for comments were unsuccessful.
The Spokesman for the Edo State Police Command, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor, said he was not aware of such incident as at the time of filing this report. Igbere TV.
