Kogi youth can be self-employed through vocational training- Prince Onyekehi assures

Kogi State Government has charged the Youth to tap on the advantage created by the Nigerian-Korea Institute of Vocational and Advanced Technology, to acquiring vocational skills so that they can become self reliant and self employed.

The Special Adviser to Kogi Governor on Multilateral, Donor Agencies and Special Projects and Focal Person, Social Investment programmes, Prince Abdulkareem Onyekehi Suleiman, stated this while interfacing with the management staff of Korean International Cooperation Agency, (KOICA), in Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja report made available to VAM News.

Prince Onyekehi, assured the management of the Institute that the state government is readily determined to making the center as a degree awarding institution, and that Governor Bello's led administration is working closely with the State Assembly for the approval of the draft bill for its accreditation so that it can be recognised as a full-fledged degree awarding institution in Nigeria.

The Special Adviser who took a tour round the faculties and the vocational equipments at the Institute affirmed that he is a product of special skill especially on ICT at his tender age and this has contributed significantly to his career development. He therefore, encouraged the students at the center to take the advantage on power of skill for their self reliance and self development.

In the meantime, the management of KOICA, commended Governor Yahaya Bello for making this center a huge success particularly, the funding of the Institute and take off grant for its accreditation to a full-fledged degree awarding institution.Thus, thanked the Special Adviser and his team for the visit.

Patience Ogbodo, Head of Unit, Home Grown School Feeding Program, Hajia Khadijat Karibo, Head of Unit, N-Power, Mr Femi Bolaji,  HGSFP, Alhaji Alimi, and from GEEP department Bashir Abdullahi.
