SELF DISCOVERY: The greatest search that every man must go through- VAM News
The journey of self discovery is the greatest search that every man must go through in life.
Let me quickly add this. Every man must come to the point that he/she must fall in love with himself/herself, You must not allow your background, race, stature and so on put your back on the ground.
Never feel inferior to others, you are loaded in your own ways and this is the major reason why some people make it and excel in life.
The question now is why must I embark on this journey?
Because God has deposited in us all what we need to succeed in life in form of talents, gifts, treasures and capacities.
In his speech, When God was making man, he deposited in us all what we need to be great in life, So there is a need for you to embark on this journey of discovering your self and you must discover your area of strength and weaknesses.
What are those things that I can do with ease and that's why is not correct for us to call any child a dullard. Nobody is created by God has a dullard.
If a child is not good academically, that does not mean that he is a waste. No
Sometimes last year, I have a student, who is not so good academically, But I notice that the boy can talk in a special way. He knows how to speak through his nose
I called him one day to have a chat with him. I told him that he has a wealth of source in him and that he should try and develop it.
He responded that his mother had warned him not to be talking like that again
I told him that this special way of talking can earn him millions of naira.
Let me shock you people of God
People making it in our generation, are people that have taken their time to discover themselves.
In fact, if you can discover yourself. You will live a fulfilled life.
How many of us want to live a fulfilled life?
Life is not about making money alone but been fulfilled.
Alright. Let us move to HOW CAN I DISCOVER MYSELF?
Firstly, SEARCHING
For you to discover yourself you must scan through and search your self
What can I do with ease. What are my strength and weaknesses
Some for example, one of their strength is talking. Instead of wasting such gift by talking about irrelevant things, you can use it to make money for your self
I normally shake my head for people that can argue on manchester united and manchester city for hours for 3,4 hours by the road side, When you can properly utilize such gift
Some their strength can be that they can type for long and sit with the computer but it must not affect other areas of your life
So you don't know that it's strength for some people. Not every body can do that.
You can use the internet to make money in a legitimate way
For example, people that organized this program. With this, they are making names and fame for themselves.
Utilize your strength and work non your weakness
On your weakness rather.
You can write Down 7 things you know you can do with ease, things you don't struggle with when doing
And also write down 5 attributes that you know is your strength.
The second one is walking with wise people
If you have wise people has your friends, so of them can help you bring out some hidden things about yourself.
Their are things people close to me have noticed about me. And they told me I can do this and this,
and when I embark on such adventure I found it very easy.
But let me add this, when they draw your attention to such, check it with your weakness and strength
So check your friend's list. Move with the people that will help you in the search for self discovery.
AFTER DISCOVERING MYSELF, WHAT NEXT?
Help the potential or gift in you to grow well. Nurture it by going for trainings, seminars on that area, like this training.
And also have mentors and friends in that area.
Also, check for your desire too
Prior before now, I now have desire for video editing and graphics design.
In fact, I use to see it as a big mountain that will be difficult to climb
But I knew that one of my strength is creativity
In fact, the day I desire to learn editing. Within few minutes of developing interest in it, I could edit very well on phone and now am editing too on system.
Another important notice, Have the correct mindset.
Desire plus the correct mindset will help you in discovering your self too and finally, on your weakness. You can always work on it too. Your weakness can be turned to your strength.
Though, their are still some other ways to discover yourself too. Let us come to the points of knowing God that has put those potentials in us
_Love for yourself, Desire, correct mindset, having good friends and most importantly have God is paramount in Self discovery._
Which one is the most important between passion/desire and talent?
Well they are all important but passion is very important.
Passion is what will fuel your talent, gift and even your desire, without passion for what we are doing in life. That man will not go far
For example, even after discovering your self and it seem money is not coming forth. Without passion such man can give up but with passion he will still continue doing it because he loves doing it because passion is there.
And with passion involve, it will definitely bring money and other benefits one day.
How can one change his/her mindset, maybe by trying to belittle him/her self ?
It's a matter of the heart. Deal with your heart, Register it in your heart that you are the best of your kind and you are not inferior to any one.
Even the scripture says that don't allow any one despise your youthful days, (1 Timothy 4v12)
For someone like me, I don't like copying peoples' work. I try to allow birth my own concept.
You can also do yourself a favour by assuring your self about this. Write it boldly in your room that "I AM THE BEST OF MY TYPE" and as you keep pondering on it daily. It will be registering in your heart and Prayers too can help your heart.
Can one make it without having a mentor ?
Or is it always good to tell people your problem?
You can still make it but you might not really go far, your mentor in that field must be someone you can always have physical contact with and he has pass through the stage you are. His experiences are valuable. His advice will not allow you to fall into some kinds of pits he fell into, So having a mentor will give us a leap.
