OPEN DAY - Chapter Three

OPEN DAY - Chapter Three

In a hurry to satisfy his curiosity, he became eager and anxious that he almost ran into moving vehicles in an attempt to cross the busy road of Phase II junction. Without wasting much time, he was already at the entrance of the beautifully constructed Tantalizers with a transparent door that made it possible to view activities happening indoor even though the whole building itself was transparent.
Mr David’s curiosity was properly satisfied as he watched his beloved fiancé have fun with another man in his invisible presence.

He was lost on either to go in and truly get something so as
to register his presence, or to just walk away and pretend as if nothing has happened. He went with
the latter idea and turned back to leave, heartbroken. Like seriously that was too much to absorb
in just a day.
How he got home he had no idea, he just found himself in the room again.
“Just when I though I already have someone to build life long relationship with…”

He said to himself as he bitterly removed the stained shirt he was putting on. Thoughts of when he will ever get it right filled his mind as he aimlessly went about his activities alone in the room.

Omolayo was the third girlfriend he has had since the demise of Folake who truly loved
him but the circumstances of life will not let her last. In a bid to make ends meet for both of them
back then when David had no job as a fresh graduate, Folake stood by him and made sure the relationship was running smoothly until she lost her dear life to the inevitable hands of death in one of our business trips to get goods for sale and since that time, he was yet to get it right again
in the world ofrelationship.

Over at Mrs. Jegede ‘s house was a hard knock on the door. They were not expecting any
visitor. It was unlike her or her son to have visitors come around at that time, it was late already.
She motioned to the door and opened the door to see who it could be. She was instantly met with
a hefty man with knife in his hands. It was obvious they were about to be robbed, but not again,
their area was just robbed not quite long ago and now they are back not to rob any other person’s
house but Mrs. Jegede’s.

Johnson could not believe his eyes as his mother was being raped in turn by the three men
that came to rob them. They had nothing much to offer, Mrs. Jegede begged for her son’s life and even offered to give them the keys to her shop, but will not bargain the shop because the security at her shop was kind of tighter than the one of their house.

They were done and like thin air, they were gone. Johnson ran to his mother to help her
stand up. She tried to hide her pain but she could not but cried on her son’s shoulder.
“Go and start preparing for school of tomorrow and complete your home works” She
finally managed to utter.
“And tell no one about what has happened here” She warned him with her eyes full of tears.
Johnson was speechless and could say nothing. He went to his room and obeyed his mother while
sobbing quietly. The mental image the event has caused will not let his memories be.
She was done cleaning the mess the robbers left her with and was trying to gain her
emotions back on track when a call from an unknown number came in.

she was reluctant to picking
the call, but she had to, maybe it could be one of the customers that want to place order.
“Hello, this Mrs. Jegede, good evening” She said wiping her tears.
“Good evening Mrs. Jegede, I am David, Johnson’s class teacher” the voice came from the
other end.
“Hello o are you there?” The voice repeated as Mrs. Jegede was lost in thought.
“Oh sorry, yes I am here, sorry could not come for the open day, had a very busy schedule”
she finally managed to say.
“No problem, and sorry I am just calling at this time, had a kind of busy and rough day as
well, just want to let you know that your son Johnson is doing really well, thank you for the
attention being given to him at home, you will get to see his academic performance at the end of the term since you were not able to come today.”

“Oh thank you, no problem. I am most grateful sir”
“David will do ma”
“Oh okay then, Mr. David”

They spoke for some seconds more and the call came to an end with both parties back to
their personal problems.
