Minimum Wage: N-Power Beneficiaries, Corp members' to earn N50,000, N35,000 Respectively ?
Since President Muhammadu Buhari signed the N30,000 minimum wage bill into law on Thursday, 18th April, N-Power beneficiaries have been fed with news of their monthly stipend increased from N30, 000 to N50, 000.
President Buhari assented to the Act barely three weeks after he received the report of the Presidential Technical Advisory Committee on the Implementation of the National Minimum Wage (PTAC) reports by VAM News.
The report was presented to the President on March 25, 2019, by the chairman of the committee and economist, Bismarck Rewane.
The speculation of proposed increment of stipends of the volunteers claims the decision of the Federal Government follows wide consultations by the agencies overseeing youth development.
The information states that N-Power beneficiaries will start to receive N50,000, while members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) will have their N19, 800 increased to N35,000.
According to a Report confirmed by VAM News based on available facts:
There has not been any official statement from the Federal Government on increment of any sort of N-Power beneficiaries stipends. There is every possibility the Federal Government raise the stipends, however, as things stand, N30, 000 is still the remuneration.
Hence, the claim that N-Power have increased beneficiaries’ stipends to N50,000 and Corp members to N35,000 is false!
