Court remands ex-Policeman, Olalekan who murdered Kolade Johnson

A Magistrates' Court sitting in Ebute Meta, Lagos State has remand Olalekan Ogunyemi, an ex-Police Inspector for allegedly murdering one Kolade Johnson.

The Magistrate, Mrs. A.O.Salawu, gave the order on Friday, where she stated that Ogunyemi be remanded at Ikoyi Prisons pending advice from State Director of Public Prosecutions.
During the hearing, the prosecutor, Insp. Kehinde Olatunde, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 31, at 5.10p.m., at Onipetesi Estate, Idi-Mangoro, Lagos.

Olatunde said that Ogunyemi used his AK-47 rifle to shoot dead 36-year-old Kolade Johnson.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate ordered 30-day remand and adjourned the case until May 6.

Section 223 stipulates a death sentence if convicted.
