2019 AFCON: Super Eagles coach, Rohr pitches wrath against in-laws

No doubt, it will be the dream of Nigeria’s manager, Gernot Rohr to overcome all oppositions in Group B of the Africa Cup of Nations in June.

But a member of his family may not share that dream.

When the Super Eagles face Madagascar at the Alexandria Stadium on June 30, Rohr will be incurring the wrath of his in-laws. 

VAM News confirmed that Rohr’s wife is from Madagascar.

 

She runs a hotel for Rohr in the French island of Reunion close to Madagascar, a reports gathered by VAM News.  

Rohr came into contact with Africa through Reunion in 2001 after his French friends told him of the serenity of the island.

It was then he opened his first hotel there and once said he would settle there one day. 

VAM Nigeria says Rohr would not be the first member of a Super Eagles’ squad to square up against his in-laws.

Sunday Oliseh captained the Super Eagles to defeat Tunisia 4-2 in the opening match of the 2000 Africa Cup of Nations. Oliseh is married to a Tunisian.

Rohr’s wife does not follow him to tournaments. At Russia 2018 World Cup, he told the media that other members of his family would be with him except his wife who has avoided public glare.
