Most Nigerians suffer and most times die on ailments they shouldn’t ordinarily have suffered if they had adequate information about. Apparently to address this information challenge, Managing Director, First Katalyst Marketing, Mr Soji Odedina, has unveiled a health-based website aimed at disseminating health information in a democratic manner that the rich and the poor can access.

Odedina, with the website, aims at solving the problem and forestalling the challenge that led to the loss of his wife, Mrs Busola Odedina during surgery, last year attested by VoiceAirMedia.
The website, Nigeriaehealth.org.ng. according to him, will help share relevant information that will reduce the number of patients who die in Nigerian hospitals through negligence and sub-standard medical practices.

Odedina said the platform is expected to help citizens have a better understanding of issues when they occur, the right procedures and processes in managing various health challenges.

He also said the launching of the site is part of activities to mark the first memorial anniversary of his late wife. He said: “The essence of this is to provide avenue for second opinion on various medical issues in order to properly guide citizens to make the right choices.

The website is designed to offer the opportunity of second guessing our healthcare system in such a way that we can help to save lives in the long run. Odedina also assured that the site has experienced medical professionals from across the globe who have indicated interest to provide voluntary medical support services for those who may want to seek information or clarification on health issues.

Also, a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, Dr. Rotimi Adewoye, said the website can help Nigerian health sector in so many ways such as keeping doctors in check.

He said: “If doctors in Nigeria know that there is a website where people can seek for second opinion, then, they will be able to tell their patients the truth of what is going on. “Secondly, it is a website where all manner of health information will be shared so that people will be careful and their health- seeking behaviour will change,” Adewoye said.
