Insecurity: PDP tackles Presidency, insists Boko Haram has become confident under Buhari
Amid the rise in Nigeria's security challenges, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has again tackled President Muhammadu Buhari.
VAM News gathers that Uche Secondus, national chairman of the PDP, said under the current administration Boko Haram insurgents now act confidently.
Secondus made the remark while addressing a press conference in Abuja on Monday, May 3.
According to him, the insurgents had been pushed out by the President Goodluck Jonathan administration, which led to the successful conduct of the 2015 elections.
He went on to note that the terrorists have since reasserted themselves and are now taking territories.
The PDP national chairman argued that Buhari has abandoned his role to media handlers who only issue meaningless and annoying statements.
Secondus according to Daily Trust, said the opposition party is willing to help address the security challenges, however, Buhari must live up to his responsibilities. Secondus further urged the current administration to, among other things, employ more security personnel and enforce state policing.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari said he is ready to do everything possible to restore peace and security in the country. This was disclosed in a statement signed by the National Security Adviser, Major-General Babagana Monguno (retd.), and made available to Legit.ng. The president was reported to have made this vow during a crucial meeting of the National Security Council.
