Tension As Ondo Community Orders Fulani Herdsmen To Vacate Environment
The Youths and Elders of Ipe Akoko in Akoko South East Local Government area of Ondo state have directed Fulani Herdsmen living in the community to vacate the land today.
In a report obtained by Newsmen released by Ambassador Ade Mario, a stakeholder in the community, the order is coming after the expiration of a 7-day and another 3-day ultimatum given to the Fulani Herdsmen to vacate the land.
According to him, “The youth and elders in Ipe Akoko held a meeting and gave the Fulani Herdsmen in Ipe 7-day ultimatum to vacate our community.
“After the ultimatum elapsed, they did not move and we gave them the grace of another 3-day which elapsed yesterday. So, the community met today and moved to the where the Fulani Herdsmen live.
“We ordered them to bring down their hut between the hours of 10:00am to 2:00pm today to pack their things and move out of the community.”
Ambassador Ade Mario, who is the national Chairman of Committee of Nigerian Youths On Security Affairs said other communities in Ondo state should follow the same path.
This is coming after the Miyetti Allah group said they will resist any attempt to evict them from the South West region of the country.
The Governor of Ondo state, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu had earlier directed that unregistered Herdsmen in the state be evicted while the South West Governors, at a meeting also approved a ban on open and underage grazing in the region.
