Sad day as 17-year-old footballer dies after touching power cable


A 17-year-old footballer with English club AFC Flyde Luke Bennett reportedly died after being el**trocuted by a live power cable. 



VAM News gathers that Bennett passed away following an accident on Saturday night, March 6, which saw him hold on to an overhead power cable with a metal pole. 


It was further gathered that the tragic incident occurred when he was attempting to retrieve a ball at Euxton Villa FC’s ground in Runshaw Hall Lane, Chorley. 


Emergency services were swiftly called to the scene after it was reported that a child had been seriously injured, but police officers attached to Lancashire confirmed that Bennett was dead at the scene. 



AFC Fylde said in a statement: “It is with deep sadness and sorrow that we must share the tragic news that AFC Fylde youth player Luke Bennett has passed away at the age of 17.


 “Learning the news on Saturday evening has left us absolutely devastated and heartbroken. All our love goes out to Luke’s family and friends at this cruel and difficult time."
