Gunmen strike in Osun, kill one, abduct many travellers

Some unknown gunmen have killed a passenger and kidnap several others along Osogbo/Ibokun road.

It was gathered that the incident occurred between 7:30 and 8:00 pm on Tuesday near Ajebandele, a village in the Obokun Local Government area, about three kilometres to Osogbo, the state capital.

The gunmen had reportedly attacked travellers and shot dead a man, whose name is not immediately available, while an unspecified number of passengers were also abducted.

The Field Commander of Osun State Amotekun Corps, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, confirmed the incident.

“One person was killed by the gunmen while they abducted yet-to-be-known numbers of travellers.

“We saw pellets of AK-47 used at the scene of the crime. We are still combing the forest to rescue those that were kidnapped.”
