After tough political battle, Gov Obaseki and Oshiomhole finally settle dispute

Despite their political differences, the Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki, and his predecessor, Adams Oshiomhole seem to have settled their rift.

Both politicians on Saturday, March 6, exchanged warm greetings at an event in Auchi.

Obaseki said he holds no personal grudges against Oshiomhole, Vanguard reported.

Obaseki and Oshiomhole reportedly exchanged greetings with an elbow-bump in compliance with COVID-19 preventive protocols.

The governor said: “I don’t have anything personal against Oshiomhole. I may not like his politics, but he has not done anything personal against me. We all are interacting with the interest of the country and the development of our community at heart.”

Obaseki made the disclosure at the Centenary Birthday Thanksgiving of Monsignor Thomas Oleghe and 18th Canonical Erection Anniversary of the Diocese of Auchi held at Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Auchi.

The Nation reported that Oshiomhole, who was a guest at the event, hailed his successor, describing him as ‘his brother and friend.

VAM News recalls that Oshiomhole, had opposed Obaseki’s second term on the platform of the APC. The feud between both politicians prompted Obaseki to defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on whose platform he won his second term in office.
