You Speak For Yourself And Fayemi, Not For Southwest APC - Olajide Bombs Karounmi

An All Progressive Congress youth advocate in Ekiti State, Olajide Omotayo has lambasted the Southwest publicity secretary of the party, Oladapo Karounmi over some reckless statements made during an interview session granted to him last week by the Vanguard newspaper.

Karounmi who posited that Dr Kayode Fayemi, the incumbent governor of Ekiti State is the most qualified person to contest for the exalted position of the president come 2023, noted that ,Fayemi, an international man, have all the requisite parameters to win the party presidential ticket easily and that his aspiration remains the brightest among equal.

But in his counter  reaction, Olajide described Karounmi as a shallow-minded and lightweight politician who lacks the moral and political capacity to determine who flies the APC ticket come 2023. According to him, Karounmi is the least to lobby Fayemi or perhaps advocate for him to join the 2023 race, owning to his track record of failure and backwardness.

“His adventure in Ekiti politics coupled with his 2018 failure to deliver APC in Efon Alaaye synopsize the kind of politician he( Karounmi) is. To the larger size of Ekiti people, Karounmi is just a mere noise maker and one who should not be taken serious.

“When you call politician with substance, I believe this man( Karounmi) is no where to be found. He is only interested in getting the APC ticket for the House of Representatives seat, a career he has been nursing since 2003. Even at his old age, he is still struggling hard to represent his constituency, but gleefully kicking against a septuagenarian as Nigeria’s president.”, He noted

It must be recalled that Karounmi had professed that no septuagenarian should aspire or contest for the president come 2023 but instead a candidate of 50-60 age bracket in which the Ekiti State governor falls. He also made his position clear about the religion affiliation of his nightmare, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, making it clear that the former Lagos State governor who also doubles as the national leader of APC, is unqualified on the basis of religion.

Furthering his counter opinions, Olajide argued that , Karounmi needs to be schooled that age or religion  is never a determinant to performance or effectiveness in public offices. Since the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria permits anyone from the age of 35 and above  to contest for president, no one should be left out under any guise— whether you are a Christian, Muslim or Traditionalist.

It is important that Karounmi and his minions, if any, should learn from 1993 history, where a Muslim/Muslim ticket of Abiola/Kingibe won flawlessly across the length and breadth of the country. The election was adjudged the best in the history of the country and would remain the yardstick for our thriving democracy.

Similarly, “Have you observe the United States of America politics, probably recently?”, Olajide asked.

“The US politics has over the years be dominated by the older generations in their 60s and 70s. Roland Reagan, Williams Henry Harrison, James Buchanan are all in their late 60s.While,  Donald Trump, Joe Biden are all in their 70s. But, when you look at the strides of  Trump, you will realize that his economic policies are top-notch and have positive overall effects on an average citizen of US.

“Even, when you talk about Russia, Europe, and so on, age is never a debate in who occupies the most exalted seat but instead, the assuidity to performance.

“So if Karounmi is saying, a septuagenarian is an aberration to the Nigeria’s politics, then we can begin to admit that he is anti-Buhari administration— of course, on the basis of  brazen hatred and callousness.”, Olajide argued.

While urging Karounmi to be upright in his thinking and judgement, Olajide challenge him to also pressurize the likes of Sowore, Kingsley Moghalu, Fela Durotoye, who falls within the age brackets of the acclaimed “soro soke” generation if truly he is driven by age against competency.

But, before then, “ he should first seek forgiveness for leading Senator Gbenga Aluko into political oblivion, even as a Director General of his campaign in the last guber election in the Ekiti State, he failed to secure the ticket for his blossom friend. This resulted him to pitch his tent with PDP and would afterwards call Fayemi unprinted names all because of the poor outing of his candidate in the primary election. This is never the kind of character Dr Kayode Fayemi needs in his team, if at all he must contest for president”,Olajide stressed.
