'We will continue to engage tertiary institution, Nigerian government', NANS President Asefon Speaks On OSCOED SUG President's Reinstatement

RE: REINSTATEMENT OF THE STUDENTS UNION GOVERNMENT OF OYO STATE COLLEGE OF EDUCATION LANLATE

The leadership of The National Association of  Nigerian Students (NANS) wishes to express its profound appreciation to the management of Oyo State College of Education Lanlate for the amicable resolution of the impasse between the Students Union Government and the College management after NANS relocated its secretariat to Oyo State to facilitate the reinstatement of the union.

It is imperative also to appreciate the effort of the Special Assistant to the Governor of Oyo State on Students Matters and also unreserved appreciation to the Department of Security Services (DSS) for their very commendable effort.

The reinstatement of the Students Union Government after our diplomatic intervention is in furtherance of our electioneering campaign to ensure that all suspended students’ union governments in the country are reinstated. We are committed to ensuring that the Students’ Union across tertiary institutions in the nation is protected at all costs. This lofty ideal is the basis upon which my leadership was conceived and will continue to operate.

Let me once again congratulate the Reinstated Students’  leaders of the Oyo State College of Education Lanlate under the leadership of Muhammed Yusuf Olitan (President), Opoola Abel (Speaker)  Muhammed Yusuf Olaitan, ( Speaker),  Sheu Lawal( clerk),  Qozeem Qudus ( Chief Justice),  Abdullahi Yusuf ( D. O. P). for this successful struggle.

While I encourage them to continue to fight for the welfare of their students, they must also continue to obey their institution’s rules and regulations. NANS under my watch will continue to advocate for the right of students to hold a dissenting opinion and seek improved welfare.

We will continue to diplomatically engage tertiary institution management and state government to negotiate a better deal for our Students and Union across all the states of the federation.

We appreciate everyone who was part of this struggle, the Oyo NANS JCC led by Opakan and ZONE D leadership are well appreciated for their various contributions.

Viva Aluta.

Comrade Sunday Asefon,

Revolutionary NANS President.
