BREAKING NEWS

Here are over 170 govt-approved centres nationwide where Nigerians can enrol for their NIN(FULL LIST)

Following the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC)'s directives mandating the telecommunication operators to block SIM cards not linked the National Identification Number (NIN), the federal government has announced approved 173 centres and 30 state government institutions to conduct enrolment.

VAM News recalls that Ikechukwu Adinde, NCC director of public affairs, on Tuesday, December 15, in a statement in Abuja announced that Nigerians must update and link their data with telecoms companies with NIN.

Adinde said the new rule applies to new SIM cards, stressing that sim not linked with NIN will be disconnected in two weeks time.

“The submission of NIN by subscribers to take place within two weeks, commencing Dec.16 and ending by Dec. 30. After the deadline, all SIMs without NINs are to be blocked from the networks."

The approved 173 centres and 30 state government institutions to conduct enrolment were thereafter announced on the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) website.

Meanwhile, all registered persons can retrieve their NIN by dialling *346# on their registered phone number for all the major networks.

Meanwhile, backlashes have begun to trail the new rule by the NCC mandating telecommunication operators to block SIM cards that are not linked with the National Identity Numbers (NIN) by January 2021.

This is as Nigerians on social media condemned the development and described it as a misstep just to frustrate the angry population.
