BREAKING: Like Nigeria's Senate, Hoodlums Break Into Ogun Assembly, Cart Away Mace

Like Nigeria's Senate on this day, April 18th, 2018, also, suspected hoodlums have broken into the Ogun State House of Assembly complex.

It was learnt the suspected hoodlums attacked the office of the Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo, and carted away the assembly’s mace.

Journalists were denied access by security agents into the assembly complex.

Police react

The Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, has confirmed the incident.

Oyeyemi, who described the incident as unfortunate, said it is being investigated.

According to the PPRO, the hoodlums broke into the house through the ceiling and removed the mace.

However, he disclosed that the head of the mace had been recovered by the police but no arrest has been made.

Oyeyemi, however, said no arrest had been made but the police were on top of the matter to unravel the case.

“Yes, there is an unfortunate incident today in the assembly complex. The hoodlums broke into the assembly through the ceiling, and removed the official mace of the house,” he stated.

VAM News recalls that the National Assembly was practically thrown into confusion in April, 2018 following the intrusion of some men who invaded the Senate to cart away the mace, the symbol of authority.

Then, the hoodlums are believed to be sympathisers of the suspended Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, who represents Delta North and who was sighted alongside the fierce-looking men.

Recalled VAM News reported that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege was suspended for 90 legislative days for his comments on the Electoral Act Amendment Bill which he said was targeted at the President Muhammadu Buhari.
