Report: Again, President Buhari Blocks Feedback From Nigerians To His Tweets

By Bright Gbotemi

President Muhammadu Buhari can only have one sided conversation with Nigerians on twitter, a visit to his twitter feed has shown, VAM News reports.

Recall that the president disabled the reply to his Twitter feed at about 5:06pm on September 30th, 2020 when he tweeted about the railway project he approved.

The tweet here;

Again, the tweet he regularly sends out can no longer be engaged by Nigerians who always take advantage of the social media app to express their grievance or support for government policies.

The move is strange for a public figure because the feedback mechanism help them to assess their popularity or policies.

VOICE AIR MEDIA confirmed that the tweet can't be replied.

The president had tweeted about the Coronavirus vaccine at 1:16pm today, November 10.

The tweet below;

He tweeted; "I welcome the news that a  Coronavirus vaccine has recorded ninety percent effectiveness in clinical trials. This is a major milestone. The world must now make great effort to facilitate equitable access and distribution of these vaccines, to protect people in All countries."

Nigerians on Twitter are currently reacting to the decision of the presidency to lock the comment section of the Tweet above on the  President's official handle.

However, the comment section of the tweets was locked, making it impossible for Nigerians to share their thoughts on the COVID-19 vaccine.

While some kicked against the decision to lock the comment section, others pointed out that the presidency opted for the decision to lock the comment section because Nigerians have in recent times spammed the comment section of any of President Buhari's tweets with ''I follow back'', ''Please Follow back''.

This Newspaper learnt that the President has three social media handlers - Tolu Ogunlesi, Bashir Ahmad and Lauretta Onuchie. They are the ones that tweet with the handle. It is clear if they alerted the president before disabling the feedback mechanism of his tweeter.
