BREAKING: Okonjo-Iweala Elected WTO DG
Nigeria’s former Finance Minister, Dr Ngozi Okonji-Iweala has emerged the new Director General of the World Trade Organisation.
According to sources from the European Union, received by VOICE AIR MEDIA, Okonjo-Iweala emerged victorious in the contest over her South Korean rival Ms Yoo Myung-hee, by a wide margin.
She polled 104 votes from 164 members countries to defeat opponent from South Korea.
She has broken many records, including becoming the first African to occupy that office at the WTO.
Okonjo-Iweala’s victory is expected to be announced formally by the WTO later today.
