Nigeria records six new COVID-19 deaths, 296 fresh cases of virus
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said on Tuesday that 296 new cases of COVID-19 had been confirmed and six more deaths recorded from the coronavirus on Tuesday, according to official figures in the country.
A total of 1,067 deaths have now been recorded thus far in Africa’s most populous country.
Nigeria has continued to record daily cases below 300 for more than two weeks with 296 infections reported Tuesday, according to the country’s infectious disease outfit, NCDC.
This brings the total number of infections in the country to 55,456.
The health agency, which made the announcement via its official twitter hand @NCDCgov, also said that out of the 55,456 confirmed infections, 43,334 had been successfully treated and discharged, while 1,067 deaths had been recorded.
The new cases were reported in the following 15 states:
