JUST IN: Sad Day As Popular Monarch In Ondo Dies

Ikare Akoko community in Ondo state is in mourning following the rumoured demise of its monarch, VOICE AIR MEDIA learnt.


Oba Samuel Kolapo Adegbite-Adedoyin of Owa-Ale, Ikare in Akoko Northeast local government area, joined his ancestors at the age of 85.










VOICE AIR MEDIA reliably gathered that the foremost monarch passed on early hour of today at his palace located at Okorun area of Ikare after reigning for 48years.


According to the source, official announcement on the dead monarch was yet to be made.





Reports obtained that Oba Adegbite-Adedoyin, has died after a brief illness.


Oba Samuel Kolapo Adegbite-Adedoyin, Prior to his death, had served as the President of a group of ondo state traditional rulers under 130 Krown Obas and member of the State Council of Obas.










Eyewitness observed that Ikare Akoko people were plunging into mourning as many people gathered at his palace.











Late Oba Adegbite-Adedoyin was born in 1935.


He was a legal practitioner and first educated Owa-Ale to facilitate establishment of more than eight secondary schools between 1978 and 1982.


The late Ikare monarch was a former lay President of African Church worldwide.










He studied law in the United Kingdom before he returned to ascend the throne of his forefathers in 1972 as the 17th Owa-Ale.


When contacted, the Olona of Ikare, High Chief Rafiu Okunade, said official pronouncement would only be made after necessary traditional rites had been carried out in line with the community’s norms.
