Ikirun Development Group Settles Health Bills Of Vulnerable Persons, Gives Palliative To Osun Community

Osun: The Ikirun Development Group, also known as COVID-19 Palliative Committee has given hope to the vulnerable persons in Ikirun community, Ifelodun Local Government area of the State.
The group took care of the health bills of the vulnerable persons in Ikirun community for the next 12 months calendar year through Osun Health Insurance Scheme (O'HIS).
In continuation of their efforts to reduce the effect of the current economy and financial hardship during Covid-19 season, the Engr Gbenga Olateru led Committee has on Saturday 26th September, 2020 distributed about one hundred Osun Health Insurance Cards to vulnerable persons within Ikirun town for free.
Dr Ismail Olasunkanmi Adeyemi and Chief Gazali 'Dewale Lawal, the Ikirun Development Group through the initiative with the approval of Akirun of Ikirunland, Oba Rauf Oloyiwola Olawale (Adedeji II) and the support of eminent sons and daughters of Ikirun, said on Saturday that the kind gesture was done generously to the course for the benefit of all.
While delivering the address, received by VOICE AIR MEDIA the Chairman of Ikirun Development Group, Engr Gbenga Olateru commended the philanthropic gesture of prominent Ikirun indigenes in both private and public sectors for supporting the idea of identifying the root cause of health challenges and finding appropriate solution.
He stated further that no hospital grows without patients, that is why the committee key into the health insurance scheme of Governor Oyetola's administration to enrol at least 100 vulnerable persons and pay for one year initial subscription.
According to him, "When the graph of COVID-19 infection seems to be regressing an the curfew relaxed, this committee, in consultation with the initiators and the sponsors, moved a step further by delving into the challenges faced by ikirun resident in the area if health. In doing this, many more worthy indigenes, especially, those at the health sector of the state are coopted with a view to identify the root cause of health challenges and finding appropriate solution.
"Among other challenges identified, the poor state of much invested on state health facilities in IKIRUN which we rated, by all facilities management standards to be qualified and big enough to house a teaching hospitals. As responsible citizen, we can't close our eyes seeing the facilities decaying. It has been observed that non patronage of any hospital, how so sophisticated the facilities and cerebral the caregivers; no hospital grows without patient.
"It is in this philosophy that we thought it wise to key into the well conceived health insurance scheme of this administration by enrolling at least 100 vulnerable persons and pay for one year initial subscription. Right today cards for 82 beneficiaries are ready."
Olateru stressed the need for State government to look into the poor status of the residents and much invested on State health facilities and attend to the inadequate of health personnel among others challenges facing the Ikirun general hospital.
"Permit me to quickly add that this committee has worked on giving this hospital some facelift as we have used mechanical means to clear overgrown bushes and shrubs which we have found covering the good look and exposure if this magnificent facilities. Work is at it's zenith on securing accommodation for the health workers as a way of complementing the state. We wish to implore the stakeholders here present to use their good office to post personnel, more particularly, medical Corp members to this hospital.
"The committee has gotten two flats very close to the hospital and same is being renovated to house such officers and give them comfort to work in this hospital," he added.
In their separate remarks, the Chairman and the Executive Secretary of Osun Health Insurance Scheme, Hon Adeoye Adelakun and Dr Niyi Oginni, lauded the efforts of Ikirun Development Group and urged Osun citizens to key into the health insurance programme of the state government through O'HIS for the benefit of their health status.
Speaking on the side of the government, The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Rafiu Isamotu reaffirmed the readiness of the State government in resuscitating both primary and state hospitals across the state, adding that Governor Gboyega Oyetola has promised to add values into both structural and human capacities in the health sector.
