50-Year-Old "Serial Rapist" Defiles Four-Year Girl after getting state’s pardon

Yusuf Bako, a 50-year-old resident on Yakubu Wanka Street, Bauchi, was arrested by the Bauchi State Police for defiling a four-year-old minor, (name concealed) inside a mosque on Aminu Street within the metropolis.


The Police Public Relations Officer of the state command  DSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, in a statement said the alleged rapist was arrested following a complaint by the minor’s guardian who is  a member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Hon.Jamilu Abdullahi who reported how the culprit lured the minor inside the mosque just to have canal knowledge of her.










The statement said the alleged culprit was imprisoned twice; in 2001 and 2015 for raping minors in similar circumstances. He was pardoned recently by the state on the eve of Coronavirus, pandemic.


The police in Bauchi launched a hunt for the alleged rapist following an alarm raised Hon Dahiru.


Members of the Bauchi State House of Assembly have asked for justice from authorities for the four-year-old girl.










Speaker Abubakar Sulaiman disclosed the position of the House during plenary on Thursday while reacting to the issue raised by Hon. Dahiru.


Hon Jamilu told the lawmakers during plenary that he received distress calls informing him on how the 50-year-old man was apprehended after raping the minor in the mosque on Aminu Street,  Bauchi.










He said “by the time I rushed to the family of the victim, I found everybody crying. The mother of the girl was unconscious and crying unstoppably.


Speaker Sulaiman said “prevalence of rape in the last couple of months prompted the House to pass the Violence Against Person Prohibition bill into law to curtail the rising cases of rape in the state.”










The House unanimously agreed to set up a committee to ensure that the rapist faced the full wrath of the law and is punished within the confines of the law.Despite State Pardon, Serial Rapist Defiles 4-year-old
