Ondo 2020: Tope Omotoso Goes To Court Over INEC's Move, Set To Restore Mandate
By Tunde Olorungbotemi, Akure
ONDO State: The African Action Congress (AAC) party in the State has challenged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of substituting the name of its governorship candidate, Samuel Tope Omotoso to that of Adeleye Adekunle.
VOICE AIR MEDIA learnt that Omotoso was elected the party’s flag bearer at the governorship primary election witnessed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC recently in Akure.
INEC had released the name of Adeleye as the AAC governorship candidate instead of Samuel Tope Omotoso as the governorship candidate for the party.
But the AAC kicked against the INEC position, alleging that the name listed by the Commission was different from that of the party’s governorship candidate.
In a statement signed by Mr.Samuel Tope Omotoso, the party was embarrassed with the names published by INEC and would not fold it’s arms while the people who never had a Governorship election witnessed by INEC would steal the mandate of the people.
According to him: “Despite party affiliations of lots of my supporters with other political parties, they have been standing by me to see the entire status quo of this nation change for better. Several groups and associations have kept their solidarity toward this movement solid as they all see this as an avenue for the entire youths’ voice be heard in our society. We had seen hope in the eyes of the entire populace at large immediately after the peacefully conducted AAC primary election where it goes to the book of history as the youngest gubernatorial candidate ever emerged. “
He expressed displeasure in the actions of some people parading themselves as executives of the AAC in the state and maintained that his mandate will be restored by INEC before the election.

He also said actions were taken immediately the names were published and the national chairman of the party promised to salvage the situation.
“This singular act has given lots of people great expectations in the forthcoming election. But this hope became shattered right after the pronouncement of one Mr Adeleye Adekunle Peter as the governorship candidate instead of Samuel Tope Omotoso, who won the primary election; was substituted as the deputy governor. Immediate actions were taken as the national Chairman was met at the national headquarters in Abuja. This situation was promised to be salvaged but to our surprise, they left the names on the ballot unchanged.”
Omotoso urged the people to rest assured that the law court would give a verdict on the issue before the election.
