Police ask Wike to hand over Joy Nunieh who is currently taking refuge in Government house
Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Joseph Gobum Mukan, has called on Nyesom Wike, Rivers state Governor to hand over the former Acting Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Joy Nunieh, who is currently taking refuge at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
Mr Joseph while appearing as a guest on Arise tv, in the early hours of Friday, made this formal request to the Governor.
It would be recalled that yesterday, Wike and his entourage stormed the residence of Mrs Joy, formal NDDC boss, shielding her from Police arrest.
Police had been sent to arrest Mrs Joy for reasons unknown at this time, it was gathered that she asked the Policemen to show her a warrant of arrest, but her plea fell on deaf ears.
The Police later broke the back door of the house, gained access to the kitchen and tried to break the connecting door into her apartment.
However, before they could gain entrance, Wike arrived with his team of security men from Government House and took her to the Government House where she is currently taking refuge.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr Joseph, also said that the order to arrest Mrs Joy was a legitimate one, adding that it was preposterous to think that they would come and just take her into Police custody without directives from above
