FG orders DSTV to suspend price hike of services











Multichoice has been ordered by the Nigerian government to suspend its plan to hike tariff on the different bouquet on DSTV.



According to Lai Mohammed, there is an ongoing plan of the government to break the Sporting rights monopoly of DSTV.












He said, “Our amendments to the Broadcasting Act, will affect the break in the monopoly of MultiChoice. Amendments to Section 628 of the Broadcasting Act, is in our broad national interest.”












Meanwhile on his own side, Ichaba disclosed that he agrees with the committee and thereby order DSTV to suspend the hike in tariffs.












Recall that the lawmakers have been looking into the hike in tariffs that has been reportedly implemented by DSTV and other cable television providers in Nigeria.












The Ad hoc committee, which is chaired by Hon. Unyime Udem, is saddled with the responsibility to investigate the hike of subscription rates by Multichoice and other cable television service providers
