CP opens up on alleged killing of 7 Policemen by SARS, reveals next line of action
The Bayelsa State Police Commissioner, CP Nkereuwem Akpan, on Wednesday, opened up on the incident involving the allege killing of seven of his men in Udghelli by some men of the Federal Anti Robbery Squad (FSARS) over reported involvement in armed robbery.
CP Akpan who rebuked claims that he was keeping quiet over the matter, said the State command is taking into account the number of personnel under its command.
He also said there is an ongoing investigation taking place in order to find out the circumstances that led to the allege killing of the Police Officers.
It will be recalled that sometime last month the Civil Liberties Organization (CLO) had threatened to take legal action against the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, and the police hierarchy over their continuous silence on the killing of seven serving policemen from the Bayelsa State Police Command in Ughelli, Delta State.
The Commissioner while addressing a news conference assured that the investigation of the reported killing of the seven Policemen in Delta State will not be forgotten.
The Police paraded some arrested suspects whose crime ranges from car theft to armed robbery, on the suspects, the Commissioner, confirmed the arrest of a car-snatching gang that entered Yenagoa, the Bayelsa capital from neighboring IMO and Eboyi States to unlawfully sell stolen vehicles popularly called” Mini Bus” snatched from the members of the Public.
“Three suspects were arrested for the alleged snatching of three minibusses. The suspects are Chinemerem Emereonye, Edolor Ekiyoukekeme and Ogunkeye Ebenezer.”
