2020: Incoming Big Brother Naija housemates begin quarantine

Ahead of the commencement of Season 5 of the Big Brother Naija show, all new housemates are currently in quarantine.


The organisers of the reality show, during a virtual press briefing, revealed that after rigorous verification and online sorting of over 30,000 entries, selected housemates have proceeded on quarantine since Wednesday, in line with the guidelines provided by the NCDC.










The organisers hinted that for this year’s edition of the popular reality TV show, carefully tested measures have been put in place to ensure minimal contact with outsiders once the housemates are in the house and also revealed that the favourite ‘ninjas’ may not be very visible during the show owing to COVID-19 realities.


The organisers said “They will be monitored whilst in quarantine until they are deemed fit health-wise. Anyone that shows signs of ill health, will as expected not be a part of the show.”










The Big Brother House has also been disinfected and won’t be accessible to anyone till when the housemates make their way into their new abode.


Channel Director, Africa Magic, Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, explained that even before the pandemic, housemates usually go through extensive health checks before entering the house.










Noting that, that has been elevated due to the present circumstances, she said, “The Big Brother show lends itself to a certain level of quarantine, seamlessly integrating into the COVID-19 guidelines.


The show’s main sponsor, sports betting company, BetWay, also revealed a bigger payout for the winner of the show this year, as well as other mouth-watering prizes for fans of the show.
