Online Media Practitioners Condemn The Rising Cases of Rape, Task Stakeholders to Safe Nigerians

The Osun Online Media Practitioners' Association (OOMPA), has condemned the raising cases of rape that is dehumanizing the girl child and sending some of the victims to early grave.

OOMPA described the vice as pandemic spreading faster than the ongoing Coronavirus in the country added that it is now seen as a norm and virtue to be embraced by predators in the society.

This condemnation was made known in a press release jointly signed by OOMPA Chairman, Jare Tiamiyu and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Tunde Olorungbotemi on Monday in Osogbo, insisted rape is evil and illicit which is borne out of a selfish mind towards the other party, leaving them in a state of trauma, be it a male or female.

Appealing to parents and guardians, Tiamiyu pleaded that they should jealously protect their children, give them proper care, home training and teach them the basic knowledge they ought to know about sexuality and sex education.

"All hospital owners and government parastatals should provide an emergency section to serve as first aid response to the victims of rape to serve their life."
