Jubilation As Nigerian Army repels ISWAP attack in Borno

The Nigerian Army says it has repelled attacks by the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Monguno town in Borno state, VOICEAIRMEDIA has learnt.



The insurgents stormed the village in the early hours of today June 13 while many residents were fast asleep. They shot sporadically into the air causing many to flee their homes.









Security forces stationed in the village however engaged the sect members in a gun battle as the insurgents invaded the town in large numbers.



This attack comes days after the insurgents killed over 60 persons in some communities in Gubio Local Government Area of the state.









According to reports, residents of the town came out to appreciate the soldiers for preventing a Boko Haram invasion of the area.


“Everyone is happy now, there is celebration everywhere; the troops have done brilliantly today. There is relief now.
