CONSIDERATION OF 100 AS PASS MARK FOR COLLEGES OF EDUCATION BY JAMB:
A tradition that belittles N.C.E standard, a risk to teaching as a profession
By National Association of Nigeria Colleges of Education students (NANCES),

Mathematically, for Colleges of Education, with 25% score, you are good to go. And we have never seized clamoring for a nation with best teachers !
From time in memorial, it has been JAMB's culture to ascribe lowest pass mark for Colleges of Education admission exercise. Alternatively, it has being the reason why students or admission seekers see the institutions as nothing but an option whenever left with no other or not being considered for admission at Universities or Polytechnics.
In general, the challenges bedeviling the Education sector in Nigeria could be traced to the late 80's and early 90's, when the education standard has started falling due to Government's inactive role as a major participant in Educational development.
More so, it is known that every N.C.E undergraduate must practice teaching (TP) and possibly in the long run, some become permanent teachers at various schools. Thus, considering lowest pass mark always for N.C.E or other teacher training institutes is gradually declining production of quality teachers in our society. If not rated over others, not on same scale, ofcourse should not be at the bottom to be considered. No wonder some student teachers do perform below the acme during teaching practice (TP) exercise, making other people out there see Colleges of Education in Nigeria as nothing but Mickey mouse.
In contrast, We have great individuals across the state, who had N.C.E programme as the cornerstone of their higher education journey. They are utilising the acquired N.C.E teachings in paddling and dispensing their best potential at various strata of the country. Today, they are great members of our society tagged achievers cum pace setters. In as much I have also passed through the great gate which served as my bedrock, however, I consider the hearty view of some regarding Colleges of Education as minority among other higher institutions as nothing but artificial.
In this context, I will like to solicit the attention of Presidency, Federal Ministry of Education, JAMB, National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) Education planning board, NUT, great minded lecturers, Students, general public, other concerned Agencies and individual's support in delivering qualitative education to the major reason we continue producing quack teachers in this country and if we must get it right it must begin from the policy making and attention given to the teachers producing institutions student teachers at various Colleges of Education across the nation, which could help in writing a future with best required teachers and education as we aimed.
