Franklin Delano Roosevelt was handicapped yet one of America's most powerful President. You too can live to your dreams - Joshua Nicholas (MrNigeria)
Franklin Delano Roosevelt commonly
known as FDR , was an American statesman
and political leader who served as the 32nd President of the United States from 1933 until his death in 1945.
A Democrat, he won a record four presidential elections and emerged as a central figure in world events during the mid-20th century. He directed the United States government during most of the Great Depression and World War II .
As a dominant leader of his party, he built the New Deal Coalition , realigning American politics into the Fifth Party System and defining American
liberalism throughout the middle third of the
20th century.
He is often rated by scholars as one of the three greatest U.S. Presidents, alongside George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. In the 1932 presidential election , Roosevelt defeated incumbent Republican president Herbert Hoover in a landslide to win the presidency. Roosevelt took office while the United States was in the midst of the worst economic crisis in its history. Energized by his personal victory over polio , FDR relied on his persistent optimism and activism to renew the national spirit.
While the Roosevelts were vacationing at
Campobello Island , New Brunswick, Canada in
August 1921, Roosevelt fell ill and was
diagnosed with polio. The infectious
disease left him with permanent paralysis from
the waist down.
For the rest of his life,
Roosevelt refused to accept the fact that he
was permanently paralyzed.
He was handicapped yet not deterred. He was the only president in the history of America that was elected four times. He was physically handicapped but mentally "overcapped."
You are not handicapped until your mind stops working. That is why during census 'dem nor dey count mad people'.
So check very well. Is it a financial problem? Are you physically unfit? Are you paralyzed? Are you blind? Are your hands chopped off? Whatever your case is; as long as your mind is still working, you don't have an excuse.
Common! prove to the world that you have an 'overcap' mind.
Refuse to feel intimidated. If a paralyzed man became the president of the U.S, then you too can be what ever you want to be.
I BELIEVE IN YOU!!
