ENCOURAGE YOURSELF IN THE LORD

The word discourage may mean any of these: " To make (someone) less determined, hopeful, or confident. To make (something) less likely to happen. To try to make people not want to do (something).
Imagine you took an exam, expecting a perfect grade only to discover you have to sit for the exam again.
Imagine you invested in a business, expecting huge returns only to find out you were duped. Imagine trying to help your spouse get better only to discover he/she isn't responding positively.
The list is endless. While some persons reading this may have to imagine of a truth, others are faced with similar problems.
You know the end result?
Discouragement. What the devil does is make you lose the needed courage to do things. Most times, you're too discouraged to try again.
So the best option he presents to you is this-- give up.
But there's a way out of discouragement. The scripture below explains better.
And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God. (1 Samuel 30:6).
The verse says David was distressed. He was left helpless. He was discouraged. But this is the secret, he didn't remain that way. What then did he do?
He encouraged himself not in the people, not in himself, but as it were, in the Lord.
That's the secret. Each time as sons we get discouraged or troubled, there's a system of encouragement that has been made available for us-- in the Lord our God. And the most amazing thing is this-- that if we would just but encourage ourselves in the Lord, we'll recover all.
David did, the situation looked hopeless( discouraging), they had all lost courage and strength to pursue (discouraged), but he found a way. He encouraged himself in the Lord, enquired of him, pursued and recovered all. ( 1 Samuel 30:1-31). Though he was discouraged at first but he didn't stay there.
And perhaps it looks right now as though all hope is lost, there's no more courage and strength to pursue. Your grades are poor. Your finances are bad. Business is bad. Even your fellowship with the Father. No need to be discouraged. Just like David, all you need do is to access the system of encouragement already provided for you, enquiring of the Lord, pursuing, and I am certain you're in for a great recovery. You will recover all. Encourage yourself in the Lord.
Thought for the day: There's a system of encouragement in the Lord provided for you. You can always access it each time you feel discouraged.
