Labour commends IGP Adamu over POCACOV Initiative

The Inspector General of police IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu has been commended for POCACOV Intiative which he flagged off nationally in Enugu on 29th August,2019 and Nationally launched on 12th march,2020 in Abuja.

The commendation was made by the chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Enugu state chapter comrade virginus Nwobodo when he paid courtesy visit on the National coordinator Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) CSP Ebere Amaraizu on 10/4/2020 at the IGP M.A Adamu POCACOV Resource Centre in Enugu.

According to the Labour chief through the POCACOV initiative which is youth based and community driven and oriented, involving different stakeholders in line with the principles of community oriented policing, the Inspector General of Police has demonstrated his love for the youths and the knowledge that most of the Nigerian youths in cultism and other vices happen to be victim of circumstances as there were no platform put in place to explain consequences of cultism and other vices in order to prevent them from joining as well as rescuing those that have joined from the claws of cultism and other vices.

He however charged the Political Office holders as well as corporate organizations amongst others to always show empathy on the plights of the youth development in Nigeria with emphasis on strong and sincere Action plan on children and youth centres which will serve as a veritable ground to prepare youths on how to channel their talents and energies to positivism and through that engage their minds and make them to become assets and better citizens of the country.

Children and youth centres will no doubt serve as a platform for inculcating values, morals and cultures that will make them better citizens and mastery of activities such as science,sports,technology, dangers inherent in cultism and other vices and make them good citizens and further opined that it will help reduce the activities of social miscreants and advised youth to always be law abiding and adhere to various safety precautions measures by the Government and National centre for disease control aimed at containing and curbing the COVID-19 Pandemic in the country.He assured that Nigeria Labour Congress will always partner with Pocacov to achieve on its mandate.

Responding,the National Coordinator Police campaign Against Cultism and other vices (POCACOV) CSP Ebere Amaraizu thanked the labour chief on behalf of the Inspector General of police and informed him on the activities of POCACOV and the four thematic area of coverage of POCACOV which is centered on Awareness creation, sensitizations, Re orientations,Consultations,youth mobilizations using community oriented approaches for a safe and secured environment in line with SECURITY AS A KEY POINT UNDER THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDGS).

Highlights of the visit at the IGP M.A Adamu pocacov Resource centre was the formal presentations of the POCACOV campaign stickers,fliers and music tagged Evils are too numerous in our society.
