Osun Covid-19: Governor's aides release different update on last patient, Oyetola reacts

There was a confusion amidst the residents of Osun state as a report was released from the office of the deputy governor's aides and governor Adegboyega Oyetola's aides contradicted each other on the update on last COVID-19 patient in the state, VAM News reports.

Recall that Osun state government recently announced that eighteen out of the 19 confirmed cases had been tested negative twice, and thereby discharged from the two isolation centres in the state.


Although, controversies have continued to generate from the actual number of cases of COVID-19 in the state, while Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) recorded down the figure at 20 cases, the aggregate of cases maintained by the state government stands at 19.



Also, the deputy governor's aides, Sunkanmi Ajiboye released the report via social media that, "currently, Osun has no Active COVID-19 case... May it remain so perpetually!"

According to WITHINNIGERIA, the controversies rather became more elaborated on Wednesday, when the Senior Adviser to the governor on Public Health, Siji Olamiju, popularly known as AKOL granted interview with a radio station at Ilesha, and disclosed that the state had discharged the last patient of coronavirus, thereby making it COVID-19 free .






VAM News gathered that the Commissioner for Health, Rafiu Isamotu said, ” there is no iota of truth in that story, please, discard it”.



He further disclosed to the public that there was need for the state to dialogue with NCDC in order to rectify the discrepancy in the figures of confirmed cases in the state.




Meanwhile, Governor Oyetola on Wednesday while fielding questions from journalists shortly after inspecting some health facilities in the State, reacting to insinuations that the last case had been discharged from the isolation centre, the governor simply said, “there is still one outstanding patient. He has been treated but still positive but he is receiving treatment at the health facility at Specialist Hospital, Asubiaro, Osogbo.”
