Amid the coronavirus pandemic, another tragedy hit Kano state on Friday, April 17, as the state's former attorney-general and commissioner for justice, Aliyu Umar (SAN) died.
According to The Nation, Umar died in the early hours of Friday at about 4am after a brief illness.
Reports gathered that the former attorney-general has since been buried according to Islamic rites
VAM obtained that the deceased was reputed to be a fiery criminal law expert, one of the best in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the Kano state's Ministry of Health had earlier confirmed the state's first death from the coronavirus disease.
The ministry announced the death in a tweet posted in the late hours of Wednesday, April 15.
Meanwhile, Details of the death were not given but the ministry said there were 21 total cases of COVID-19 in the state.
