The National Association of Nigeria students joint campus committee Ekiti state axis on Wednesday  paid an itinerary visitation to the management of the federal polytechnic Ado Ekiti on reasons why students considered for admission were directed to pay the sum of #2,500 into the polytechnic account before proceeding for clearance.



While responding to the NANS executives, Mr O.D Dada, The Dean of students affairs said the purpose #2500 is to be paid only by students who applied for morning program but were later given admission into evening program while those that applied for evening directly will not pay dime before being cleared.



The DSA further explained that the purpose of the #2,500 clearance fee is  to regularize the students so as jamb to avoid paying huge amount of money for jamb regularization in future. 

   
This will also give them chance to undergo two year programme with the morning students, instead of three year as part time students. He added.


In a Press release dated 8th January 2020, from the office of the general secretary, national Association of Nigerian students joint campus committee, Ekiti state axis which in part reads:



"'It will be recalled that the management of federal poly Ado-Ekiti issued an internal memo dated January 3, 2020 which directed all the new students offer admission into ND evening program to pay the sum of #2500.




The leadership of NANS/JCC EKITI  consult the management of federal polytechnic Ado-Ekiti management on the payment of #2500 charges before clearance. Through our visitation to the school management today 8/01/020  to know the purpose of the fees that our students are paying before their clearance could be issued, the management of the school response through the dean student affairs Mr O. D. Dada that the #2500 is to be pay only by students who applied for morning program but were later given admission into evening program  while those that applied for evening directly will not pay dime before been clear.




He further explained that the purpose of the fee is  to regularize their jamb  to avoid paying huge amount of money for jamb regularization in future. This will also  give them chance to undergo two year programme with the morning students,instead of three year as part time students."


 
"We use the opportunity to clear the air on the rumour that the school fee  has been increased with #5000. The DSA reacted  that students should disregard such information as there is no move of such by school management. He further stated that the school portal have not been open for payment of school fee and implore the students, guardians/ parents to check the school website for a reliable information.



He praised the students leader for coming to the school, at least to verify some of the allegations leveled against the Rector and management,  who according to him, had brought light to the school".



According to him, “some people want to pull this institution down because of selfish interest, I want to advice the students that any where they see themselves in future, they should be on the positive side and not negative, no matter what ever pressure”.



The NANS executive said during the consultation that it would have been suicidal if the union had acted upon the information it received from various quarters against the school management.


 In a statement signed by Comrade ojo oluwaseun Pius POS ALUTA, NANS JCC EKITI AXIS GENERAL SECRETARY says the apex leadership of students in the state implore our students to desist from a statement or claim of questionable accuracy, from non known reliable source, usually spread by words of mouth as it is always the beginning of pandemonium between the students and the management. We  bid all our students journey mercy from their various homes, never forget the saying that Freedom cometh by struggle". The statement reads.
