NANS Kwara JCC elects new exco

National Association of Nigerian students Kwara Axis elected new executive, VAM News reports

BEING THE COMMUNIQUE OF THE CONVENTION OF NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIAN STUDENTS/JOINT CAMPUS COMMITTEE; KWARA STATE AXIS WHICH WAS HELD AT THE KWARA STATE NIGERIA UNION JOURNALISTS CENTRE, ON THE 14TH OF DECEMBER, 2019

 

On the 14th of December, 2019, the Senators of NANS/JCC Kwara axis from higher institutions In Kwara state under the nomenclature of NANS/JCC Kwara axis assembled at NUJ Press centre, Ilorin for annual convention to usher new set of executives (2019/2020).


The convention was duly observed by representative of Ministry of tertiary institution, and there was adequate security by officers of the department of State Security Service and the Nigerian police Force. 



Accreditation started at 11:18am, the SUG Presidents and the SUG secretaries-General of the following institutions were accredited at the entrance gate and were allowed into the Convention venue;
University of Ilorin, Kwara State University, Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State Polytechnic Ilorin, College of Education Oro, College of Education, Ilorin, College of Education technology Lafiaji, College of health technology Offa, College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies Ilorin, College of Nursing and Midwifery Ilorin, College of Nursing and Midwifery Oke-ode. All the twenty-two senators were accredited as delegates to represent Nigerian Students. 


The Convention proper kickoff at 10:27am after proper accreditation. 


Senator Issa Abdulgafar nominated Comr. Imam Adekunle as the Convention Chairman, and it was seconded by Sen. Hanafy Qozeem with no other nomination. Hence, Comr. Imam Adekunle emerged unopposed. 



The Convention Chairman addressed the Senators and thereafter nominated Comr. Ajayi Hosea Ayobami from School of nursing Oke-Odea, as the convention Clerk, Comr. Ahmed Ariyo Muftau from COED Oro, as the CDC Chairman, and Comr. Olakanmi Abdullateef from Kwara State Polytechnic as the CDC secretary. After the formation of CDC, the Senators unanimously agreed to proceed with the election.


The following portfolios were won unopposed


General Secretary:
HASSAN Ridwan, a student of Federal Polytechnic Offa.


Asst. General Secretary:
SULAIMAN, Yusuf Issah, a student of University of Ilorin.

Financial Secretary: QUDUSOlalekan, a student of Kwara State University, Malete.


P. R.O 1:
TAIWO, John Olamilekan, a student of Kwara State Polytechnic.


P.R.O 2
HASSAN Ayo, a student of Kwara State College of Education.


Director of sports:
SULAIMAN, Ayodeji Abdulmumeen, a student of Kwara State Polytechnic.


Director of Social
GOBIR Ganiyat, a student of Kwara State College of Health Technology Offa

DIRECTOR OF GENDER :
AKANBI II, Kawthar, a student of Kwara State College of Education Ilorin.


Ex-officio:
ABDULGANIYU Agunbiade, a student of Kwara State College of Education Ilorin.


Welfare 2:
ADEYEMI, Aishat, a student of Kwara State Polytechnic.

Director of Contacts and logistics:
OLUWASEYI Super, a student of Kwara State University Malete.

Four portfolios were keenly contested, they include:


Chairman:
SALAMI, Wasiu, a student of University of Ilorin contested against Sulaimam Abdulmumeen, a student of Kwara State Polytechnic, Abdulrauf Ibrahim, a student of Kwara State Polytechnic, and Hassan Ridwan, a student of Federal Polytechnic Offa.


The three contestants stepped down from the contest, and Salami Wasiu, a student of University of Ilorin was declared winner with 21 votes. 


Vice Chairman Admin:
Babatunde Adeshina, a student of Kwara State University Malete, defeated Yekeen Shakirullah, a student of Kwara State Polytechnic, who had 2 votes.


Babatunde Adeshina, a student of Kwara State University Malete was declared winner with 20 votes.


Vice Chairman Academics:
Abdulrauf Ibrahim, a student of Kwara State Polytechnic, defeated Akanbi Ahmed, a student of Kwara State Polytechnic, who was absent.


Abdulrauf Ibrahim, a student of Kwara State Polytechnic, was declared as the winner with 22 votes


Vice Chairman Special Duty:
OYEBODE Loverh, a student of Kwara State College of Education Oro, defeated Adeyemi Aishat who had 4 votes.


OYEBODE, Loveth, a student of Kwara State College of Education Oro was declared as the winner with 18 votes.


The representative of the Ministry of Tertiary Institution affirmed the credibility of the Convention, and all delegates equally agreed that the election was free, fair and credible. Thus, the process ended at 2:09pm and the convention came to an peaceful end.
