Ganduje signs new bill, says, ‘Our emirates have come to stay’
After the successful passage of the Executive Bill forwarded to the Kano House of Assembly for the creation of four additional emirates in the state, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje signed it into law on Thursday at Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano,.
The action has now paved way for the creation of five new emirates in the state.
The governor observed that the last law was challenged in the court as being sponsored by private hands rather than the state Executive.
“As a law-abiding administration, we came and deliberated upon that at the State Executive Council, shortly after the Bill was sent to the State House of Assembly seeking the creation of four additional emirates — Bichi, Rano, Gaya and Karaye,” he said.
Furthermore, he explained, “After successfully passing the Bill by the House, here we are, as you are all witnessing, the signing of the Bill into law.
“And our emirates have come to stay.”
