#Buhari At 77: Here's How Nigerians are celebrating President Buhari Today with 'General' titled

President Buhari clocks 77 today. The Nigerian leader was born on December 17th, 1942 in Daura, Katsina State.

 

Mrs Aisha Buhari, who took to her social media handle to celebrate her husband in the early hours of Tuesday.

She wrote, "Happy Birthday to MY incorruptible GMB. I wish you Allah’s Guidance Protection and Good Health to continue steering the affairs of our dear nation . Long Live GMB Long Live Federal Republic of Nigeria !" Tagged him 'General'.

Going by record, President Muhammadu Buhari studied largely in Katsina, took his military training in Kaduna as well as in Great Britain, India, and the United States.

From August 1st, 1975 to February 3rd, 1976, General Murtala Mohammed, appointed Muhammadu Buhari as Governor of the North-eastern State. He also briefly served as Governor of Borno state from February 3rd, 1976 to March 15th, 1976.

In March 1976, the Head of State, General Olusegun Obasanjo, appointed Muhammadu Buhari as the Federal Commissioner for Petroleum and Natural Resources. When NNPC was created, he served as its Chairman, a position he held until 1978.

He became the military head of state from 31 December 1983 to 27 August 1985.

Muhammadu Buhari contested for President of Nigeria for three times (in 2003, 2007 and 2011) before he finally won in 2015.
