Rowland emerge Imo YAN Speaker-elect As Postmus Osuji looses out
The Imo state chapter of Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN) had her state chapter election for state principal officers conducted at the YAN State secretariat in Owerri last tuesday with Amb. King Ihejirika as the Chief electoral officer and YAN national speaker; Rt.Hon. Godstime Chukwubuikem Samuel as the Chief Electoral observer, VAM News report.
For the position of Imo YAN speakership, Rowland Izuogu from Okigwe Local government area defeated his closest rival; Postmus Osuji of Owerri west.
Prince Cres Ugo (Royal Prince) of Ahiazu mbaise local government area defeated Benjamin Nzechukwu of Ikeduru Local government area to emerge Imo YAN deputy speaker.
Others who clinched their seat were: Obioha of Orsu LGA as Majority Leader, Bethel Iwuoha of Mbaitoli LGA as Chief whip, Chioma Efficacy of Orlu Local government as Minority leader.
Responding to newsmen after the election, the Imo YAN speaker-elect Rowland Izuogu thanked the electoral umpire for conducting the most free and fairest election in Nigeria's history.
Izuogu went further to thank the national patron of YAN; Ugwumba Uche Nwosu for his support to him, YAN and Nigerian youths in general, promising never to derail from any of the constitutional provisions.
VAM confirmed the inauguration of the newly elected Imo YAN officials will hold on the 9th of November, 2019 in Owerri.
