OCDA GOES BERSERK: As Imolites groan in pains, set for a showdown

Government of Imo state under Chief Emeka Ihedioha is the 3rd most lawless government in Nigeria after Bauchi and Edo states, VAM News reports.

It is expected of every new Government not only to continue with the policies and programs met on ground but also to improve on them for the greater good of the people and make possible progressive corrections where necessary.

In Imo state, what we have experienced for the past 6 months is largely different from the normal routine in governance anywhere in the world.

What we have in Imo is a situation where a governor is only active as governor at night and his appointees are the acting governors of the state in the day.

A situation where by the General Manager of Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA); Sir Chimdi Ejiogu and his director, Chief Uche Onyeagocha (Imo SSG) are yet to come to terms with the difference between governance and alutaism.

They are busy investing on brigandage as human capital development with his formation of numerous task forces as much as they can to steam up ego and public perception of being dogged fighters, not minding the adverse effect on citizens and state resources.

Stories are awash on how some rough looking boys in different vehicles (white painted old Mitsubishi bus, grey green sienna, navy blue Passat volt wagen, all with inscription "OCDA Taskforce" have been invading Communities of Mbieri, Ubomiri, Ogbaku in Mbaitoli LGA, Ekemele, Akabo and Iho communities of Ikeduru LGA, Umuokanne and Obosima in Ohaji Egbama LGA, harassing house owners to produce their OCDA fencing and building permits even as pains occasioned by the mal-administrative afflictions exemplified by the massive protest against multiple and inordinate taxations by the Imo PDP led insensitive government are yet to subside.

One will wonder why such practice should be experienced under a government that arrogates due process lordship to herself.

OCDA which is an acronym for Owerri capital development authority to the best of our knowledge, following the law enacting it has to do with Owerri capital development.

Mbaitoli LGA, Ngor okpala LGA, Ohaji Egbema LGA, Ikeduru LGA are not part of Owerri capital and as such, developers of landed properties in every LGA outside the owerri capital (Owerri North, Owerri west and Owerri Municipal) are supposed to get relevant development documents from the Local Government Town planning authorities of their LGAs and not OCDA.

It clearly beats the imagination of imolites why OCDA should brazenly usurp the manifest town planning functions of the local government development authorities.

The governor is urged to call these over ambitious agents to order to forestall the looming uncontrollable civil disobedience, possible anarchy and break down of law and order in Imo state.
