In the furtherance of patriotic discharge of my oversight responsibility as the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Army, Hon Tajudeen Adefisoye (Small Alhaji), I embarked on a two day joint visitation to Maiduguri for on the spot assessment of the ongoing war on insurgency, VAM News has obtained.
The joint committee of the National Assembly was comprised of the Chairman, Senate Committee on Army, Senator Ali Ndume, Chairman, House Committee on Army, Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas and my humble self, in the capacity of Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Army.
While speaking with the journalist, On the first day of our visitation, we were at the Cashew Plantation Camp, which is a Border Repellent Zone of the Nigerian Army. We were also at the border to Sambisa forest in Borno state, where armoury of Nigerian Army was inspected. We also had useful discussion with the gallant officers on how best to end the activities of Boko-Haram insurgents in the entire North East, he said.
Second day of the visitation began at the hospital (MRS) of the Theatre Command. We afterwards visited the Nigerian Army cemetery where respect was paid to the nation's heroes that had paid the supreme price.
The National Assembly delegation later visited Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum.
The visit afforded us the opportunity to assure the governor of the determination of 9th National Assembly to do everything within our powers to bring an end to insurgency in the North East by working closely with Nigerian Army and Borno State Government.
