Flood: ODSG begins excavation of tributaries in Idanre

The Ondo State Government has begun excavation of tributaries in Idanre local government to forestall a recurrence of flood disaster that destroyed properties worth of millions in the council area. 

It would be recall, few months ago, Ondo State government procured Amphibious Excavator which meant to tackle flood disaster. 


The Amphibious Excavator began operations at Popular Uwori area, Oke-Irowo, Alade Idanre, the kind gesture would be extended to all affected areas in the local government.


According to Chairman of the Council, Hon. Jerome Akinsuyi, who informed state government about the ugly incident by writing official letter on behalf of the local Government, he said the measure was taken to allow free flow of water and discourage the future occurrence of the ugly incident.


The step taken by the chairman was what led to the visitation of the State Government officials led by the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Agboola Ajayi to the affected scene.


However, The Council Boss appreciated the efforts of the state chairman of APC in Ondo State, Engr Ade Adetimehin towards the development. He said, his intervention fasten what the affected areas is witnessing now.


He said, he (Chairman) and State Chairman of APC in the state, Engr Adetimehin made the excavation of tributaries in Idanre happened. 


plans are underway to commence operation on other areas affected by the flooding in the local government, " he concluded.
