Nigerian students' parliament set for inauguration in September, Zones positions

_Zones national speaker position to North, Deputy speaker to south.

The board of trustee (BOT) of the Nigerian Students' Parliament ably chaired by Rt.Hon. Godstime Samuel Chukwubuikem have scheduled the inaugural ceremony of the Nigerian Students' Parliament (NSP) for first week of September,2019.

The spokesperson of the NSP board of trustees; Amb. Umaru B. Babayaro while speaking to VAM newsmen after their meeting today in Abuja said the decision of the BOT was to enable the student parliamentarians have enough time to campaign for themselves and their choice candidates via the in-house election that will usher in the leadership of the Parliament.


Amb. Babayaro said that out of the 109 senatorial zone representatives seat of the parliament, about 64 senatorial districts are yet to nominate their students' representatives and that there is enough time now to enable student activists who are interested in the legislative arm of students unionism to obtain letters of nomination from either their senators, house of representative member or Governor. 


National Presidents of state students associations and unions are to obtain letters of recommendation from their state assembly speakers, Secretary to the government of their states or their state governors to enable them be well identified to represent their senatorial zones at the Nigerian students' Parliament from September 2019 to september 2020.


The NSP board also zoned the national speaker position of the students' parliament to the North, the National Deputy speaker position to the south and have approved that already nominated parliamentarians who are interested in any of the NSP principal positions ranging from:
National speaker
National deputy speaker
Majority leader
Minority leader
Chief whip
Deputy majority leader
Deputy minority leader and Deputy whip are free to print their campaign materials and embark on full blown campaigns.


NSP is a breeding ground for future legislative icons in our nation Nigeria and we are serious in ensuring that we put in the best to groom our future leaders, Amb. Babayaro further exclaimed.
