AFCON 2019: Super Eagles eliminate Cameroon to qualify into quarter-finals

The Super Eagles eliminated Cameroon in the first knockout round the last time they were reigning champions in 2004, and their bid to repeat history looked on when Ighalo nudged Nigeria ahead with a scrappy opening goal after 19 minutes.

At the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt on Saturday evening when the country’s senior national team, the Super Eagles, shot down defending champions Indomitable Lions of Cameroun to qualify into the quarter-finals.

However, Nigeria triumphed with two quick second half goals – the first by Ighalo, who then laid rest by Alex Iwobi to stab home to end the game at 3-2.
