The Beauty of Nigeria's Successive Democratic Growth

The "Konshisha (Gaav) State Constituency, Benue State, Nigeria" experience.

Prior to the 2019 Elections in Benue State, the polity was doused with lots of power play, both from within and outside the state but, some certain individuals kept on moving and pushing, such is CEPHAS.

Konshisha State Constituency seat in the Benue State of Assembly for 2019 - 2023 was contested for by 17 political parties.

Many things were involved and at stake, RICHARD A UJEGE (60 Yrs; HND, BSc, M.ED) was Peoples Democratic Party candidate; HEMBA HENRY AONDONOU (51 Yrs; FSLC, SSCE, Diploma) was All Progressives Congress candidate; DYAKO CEPHAS TAVERSHIMA (27 Yrs; FSLC, NECO, BSc-Ed) was Action Democratic Party candidate; etc.

Consulting and parleying with veteran and known political names of the constituency failed, CEPHAS and his team were not given a chance.

CEPHAS and his ilks have next to nothing in terms funds but they believed in people's want for progress and Independent National Electoral Commission

(INEC) fairness in conduction of elections.

He and his team went about the constituency with the manifesto and how it's intended to be achieved, if elected.

Despite being the youngest contender and against all odds, CEPHAS won the Konshisha State Constituency seat in Benue State House of Assembly in the election conducted on March 9, 2019 by Independent National Electoral Commission.

He is an elected member now.

Here are the beauties:

1. INEC was free, fair and unbiased in the conduct of the exercise

2. No Presidential influence

3. Money, intimidation, influence, etc were not enough to to buy or subvert the will of the people

4. Campaign was not money gulping

5. God-fatherism was buried

6. Electoral violence was also silenced

Capping it all up, CEPHAS is a FIRST TIMER in politics and in aspiration for An Elective Position.

Is our nascent democracy not growing beautifully (at this her 20th year) ?
