Buhari’s ex-aide sacked by Court as elected Reps member
Former aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, Mr Kawu Sumaila representing Sumaila/Takia Federal Constituency in the Kano State House of representative has been sacked by court as the elected Representative.
Mr Kawu who was the former Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly matters, won the election last February having contested under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Meanwhile, the court ordered the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize Mr Shamsudden Dambazau who is the son of the Minister of Interior, Mr Abdulrahman Dambazau as the APC candidate for the position.
Mr Dambazau Shamsudden, had sued INEC, APC and Mr Sumaila challenging the nomination of Mr Sumaila as the candidate of APC for the House of Representative.
According to Mr Shamsudden's counsel, Mr Nuraini Jimoh, He told the court that Mr Sumaila contested for Kano South senatorial seat and lost to Mr Kabiru Gaya, who is a serving senator and APC later compensated him with the House of Representative Ticket without him contesting in the Primaries.
The judge, Justice Lewis Allagoa however, ruled that the action of the APC was illegal as the ex-presidential aide did not participate in the APC primary for the House of Representatives and he(The Judge) therefore ordered INEC to withdraw the certificate of return issued to Mr Sumaila.
Mr Auwa Tofa who is the counsel to Mr Sumaila did not comment on the judgement.
