Heavyweight Boxing champion, Masevex seeks promoter from Ekiti Govt
National light heavyweight boxing champion, Adewale Masebinu, has appealed to Ekiti State Government, corporate bodies and individuals to secure for him a promoter and manager to brighten his career. Masebinu, popularly known as Masevex, made the appeal in an interview with newsmen in Ado-Ekiti on Monday.
The Ikere-Ekiti born boxer said that his ambition was to become the World Boxing Council (WBC) Heavyweight Champion in no distant time.
According to the 28-year-old graduate of History and International Studies from Ekiti State University, “since I turned professional three years ago, I do not have promoter or manager.
"I urged the government, companies and the well-to-do people in the society to support boxing and invest in it. “I remain unbeatable. I shall continue to train hard until I achieve my aim.
“My focus is to win the WBA, WBO and IBF and bring honour to Ekiti and Nigeria,” said Masebinu, who also got into kicking boxing and won a silver at the 2018 National Sport Festival.
“I am the first Ekiti born to win medal in professional boxing, I dedicated this new feat to my governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi,” said Masevex.
He urged all to give financial support to upcoming professionals and amateur boxers in the state in their quest to create names for themselves and bring honour to the state and Nigeria at large. (NAN)
