90 pupils bag former CAN president,  Oritsejafor’s scholarship

A total of 90 pupils in Warri have in the last couple of days have receiv-ed scholarship from prim-ary school to university curtesy of Word of Life Bible Church.

Ahead of the church’s annual Women convent-ion known as Daughters of Sarah Convention sched-uled for March 14-17, the martriach of the church, Pastor (Mrs.) Helen Oritse-jafor has been holding cru-sades in neibhouring mar-kets to sensitise women for the programme.

At the Okere Community Market crusade, the chu-rch martriach also known as Mama Helen identified 30 less privileged school age children and immed-iately offered them scho-larships to university le-vel. She also told the com-munity leaders to select another 20 pupils for the same largese.

At neibhouring Ajamimo-gha meat market and Eku-rede Urhobo Market crusa-de, Mama Helen picked 20 each to for the same schol-arship. In addition, she gave a cash gift of N10,000 to the mothers of all the re-cipients.

The joy on the face of a Warri-based petty trader, Mrs. Sarah Abraham knew no bounds when her teen secondary school daughter who has been having diffi-culty paying her school fees suddenly got a school-arship from secondary sch-ool to university.

Expressing gratitude to God, Mrs. Abraham said: “The Word of Life Bible Church has put a smile on my face as they surpris-ingly picked my daughter, among 29 others for a sch-olarship from secondary school to university level.
“My joy knows no end. I am very happy because the girl had just been chased from school for inability to pay N4,750 school fees.”

Narrating her experience, the young SS I student, Miss Happiness Itah said she was chased out of school for her parents’ inability to pay N4,750 academic exp-ense and was sorrowfully going home when she had an encounter with Mama Helen Oritsejafor at the Okere Community Market Crusade.

Hear Miss Happiness Itah’s story: “I am still in shock and do not really know what to say. The thing ca-me to me as a huge surp-rise. I am still seeing the whole thing as a dream… that is, its still unbelieva-ble.
“I was just walking down the road with heart after being sent from school for my parents’ inability to pay my school fees, when Mama Helen looked my way. I have heard a lot of the church’s acts of charity and that’s what gave me the courage to join the crusade.

“With tears I walked to the place. I was still very angry and as soon as I arrived the place, she picked me for a scholarship from scondary school to university,” she said.
